FRIB places first beta=0.29 cryomodule

13 September 2017

The first of twelve β=0.29 cryomodules was placed in the linear accelerator tunnel on 13 September.

FRIB Project personnel moved the beamline from the assembly room and lowered it through the access shaft where it was moved the tunnel, and inserted into its near-final position.

With technical construction of the β=0.04 complete and β=0.085 cryomodules almost complete, the focus of the superconducting radio frequency cavity activities now shifts to the β=0.29 and β=0.53 half-wave-resonator cryomodules.
